BWWAAARRHHHHHH !!!!!
SEE, I have recently started watching a series: "SUPERNATURAL", some of you may know what it is or some of you may not know. So for those who don't know what supernatural is, it is a series based on horror stories.
So, while watching it, a thought came into my mind, there must be some urban legends in INDIA too, yeah I know there are series like the typewriter, ghost stories, BETAAL on NETFLIX. I won't be sharing their stories, so don't worry.
What are urban legends, for an easy understanding you can call it urban myths also.
OK, some urban legends in INDIA can go like-
"गाऊँ की चुडैल " , "गली का भूत बांग्ला ", " पीपल पेड़ का बेताल "
I know it is funny but this is what these are called here. Some Indian urban legends go like this, I will point out some of them :
- Can idols of Lord Ganesha drink milk?
- How does Himesh Reshammiya’s music invite evil spirits?
- What’s the mystery behind Mumbai’s Grand Paradi Towers?
- Could the water of Mahim Creek be sweet?
- The Yeti, or the Abominable Snowman, is said to roam the Himalayas by the Sherpa people.
- Muhnochwa ::::::: In 2002, the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh were in panic about a strange creature that swept down like a miniature UFO beaming red and green lights. The creature was described as hawk-like, with metal claws that aimed at scratching victim faces, leaving them writhing with pain. Many people were so terrified that temples held sermons to ward away evil spirits while some villagers stayed up all night around bonfires with guns and water canons. See the figure, this is what it looked like as depicted by the villagers
- The Indian village of Kuldhara was seemingly abandoned overnight, and no one knows why, though there are a few eerie theories.
- Morgan House, West Bengal ::: Morgan House is a West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation run British colonial mansion in Kalimpong. The present-day heritage boutique hotel draws a large number of tourists with its beauty and adds to that the hotel's location—Mount Kanchenjunga in plain view. The beautiful wood and stone structure once saw many elegant parties, but in later years it earned the status of a haunted hotel. According to the stories, the spirit of Lady Morgan never left Morgan House. We can't blame the Lady who obviously have put in a lot of thought into the mansion. From its timeless interior to the beautiful exterior of ivy-covered walls, everything is exquisite about Morgan House. So if the former resident still feels attached to the mansion, there isn't much left to do about that. However, the story is inconclusive. But one thing is for sure, it brings out that desire to experience Morgan House's timeless beauty and charm.
These are some of the famous urban legends in INDIA which had come in the news but there are numerous others residing in our villages, small towns that are being verbally passed down from one generation to the other.
I HAVE SOME MORE URBAN LEGENDS AND THEY ARE MORE COMMON :
BLOODY MARRY !!!
WOMEN HAVING "MAATA" IN TEMPLES.
LEMON AND CHILLY !!!
If anyone of you has indigenous urban legends then you can share it with me in the comment section.
